When I was a kid, I found out my best friend’s Dad was training for a half marathon and biking to work from Ashton to Bells Corners. He was already strong as a firefighter, but seeing that level of commitment to fitness opened my eyes to what was possible. Pat passed away from a brain tumor in 2006. Watching someone so strong go through that changed me. It’s why I do this work—to help people stay strong and healthy for as long as possible. Lifespan is about how long you live. Healthspan is about how long you live with independence and the ability to move freely.

I’ve spent over 15 years in the fitness industry, and I’m genuinely obsessed with biomechanics and how the human body moves. Most of my work is with people dealing with pain, helping them get back to feeling good and building their strength back up. I work with busy professionals, parents, and retirees who want to keep moving well as they age.

My approach focuses on the basics that actually matter: sleep, stress management, nutrition, and fitness. They’re all connected, and you can’t ignore one without affecting the others.

I’ve done 19 road marathons (including 3 Boston Marathons), several half marathons, 10Ks, Spartan Races, and ultra races—including a 100-miler. Training for these taught me that most of us can do way more than we think. I’ve learned how to push myself mentally and physically, and I think you’re capable of more than you realize too.

I’m always learning. Some of my training includes:

(2015) Precision Nutrition 1

(2016) A-CFHC Health Coach

(2019) Exercise Therapy Level 1

(2019) CanFitPro Personal Trainer

(2019) Caveman Kettlebells: KB Fundamentals

(2020) TRX Level 1

(2021) Certified Biomechanics Specialist

(2022)AIM Closed Chain Lower Limb Biomechanics

(2022) Mobility Coach Plus

(2022) Amazing 12 Certified Coach

(2023) Advanced Biomechanics Minicourse

(2023) Zac Cupples: Human Matrix

(2024) BioLayne Nutrition Certification Level 1

I don’t consider myself an expert. I’m a student.

What I’m Into

Coach, Bsc. Kin

From a young age, I’ve been passionate about movement and competition. Growing up, I
played nearly every sport I could — hockey, basketball, volleyball, and football — which
naturally led me to explore strength training in university. What began as a way to improve
athletic performance quickly became a lifelong pursuit of mastery, resilience, and growth.
Strength training is unique in its ability to shape not only how we look, but how we move, feel,
and perform. Whether your goal is to return to sport, improve daily function, or simply feel
stronger and more capable, I believe training should be purposeful, efficient, and tailored to your
individual needs.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa and became
a Registered Kinesiologist through the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. My education in
exercise physiology, biomechanics, and training principles forms the foundation of my practice
— but I also stay current with emerging research to continually refine my approach.
In recent years, I’ve developed a deeper focus on programming that manages stress and
inflammation — helping clients not just train harder, but recover and adapt more effectively. I
draw inspiration from high-performance athletic protocols, simplifying and scaling them for
everyday people who want to move, perform, and feel their best. By integrating intelligent
strength work, movement variability, and recovery-based principles, my goal is to create
programs that build durable, balanced, and resilient bodies.
Having personally worked through injuries, asymmetries, and performance plateaus, I
understand how important it is to train smart, not just hard. I’ve had the privilege of working with
clients across all backgrounds — from athletes and active adults to individuals managing
arthritis, osteoporosis, autoimmune conditions, or recovering from various musculoskeletal
injuries .
My goal is to help every client move better, feel stronger, and build the confidence that comes
from meaningful progress — both in and out of the gym

Shawn Stirling Trainer

Shawn Stirling

Coach

Hi, I’m Shawn, and I’m passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential through strength training. My journey in fitness began at 18, driven by the desire to meet specific requirements for sports. What started as a personal goal soon evolved into a lifelong dedication.

I began my career in personal training part-time in 2009, but a pivotal moment came in 2011 with the passing of my father. In his memory and with newfound purpose, I transitioned to full-time training. Although I stepped away from personal training in 2014, I continued to deepen my knowledge and expand my skills.

I joined the Team Kabuki online program, where I learned from some of the top strength athletes in the world. This five-year experience greatly enriched my expertise. After some time training independently, I remembered how much I enjoyed coaching and helping others, which led me to reconnect with my passion for personal training.

Today, I’m dedicated to using my experience and knowledge to guide and support you on your own fitness journey. Let’s work together to unlock your strength and transform your life.
